ABOUT MICHAEL

Michael Strand is a dad, an uncle, and a brother. His highest priority is his family, and he understands that most people feel the same way about their own families. That is why he is running for Executive Council — to ensure his family and yours can live in a free and thriving Granite State.

The oldest of 4 children, he comes from a diverse family background of small business owners, baseball players, educators, entrepreneurs, mental health professionals, factory workers, welders & fishermen.

His paternal grandfather was a Pearl Harbor survivor on the USS Reid and fought in the Pacific theater during World War II, once stranded in the water for over two days before being rescued. His great-grandmother emigrated from Slovakia in 1938, escaping fascism and, later, Soviet aggression. She worked in a canning factory for 30 years. His maternal grandfather managed a naval ship’s commissary during the Korean War, and went on to own a successful real estate businesses across the East Coast.

His father has owned a small utilities company in rural Florida for 40 years, but spends most of his time fishing; and Michael’s mom was a business owner and special education teacher while raising three kids, now enjoying her time as a grandmother and managing a boutique spa.

For the past eleven years, Michael has managed a successful start-up staffing firm in Bedford. He has partnered with clients across industries to fill open positions and find qualified candidates for jobs through the worst national labor shortage in 40 years, often felt hardest by small business owners right here in New Hampshire.

Michael serves as Bedford Citizen Representative on the state PFAS Commission,  as well as on the Bedford Town Council. During this time, he has advocated for clean water on behalf of affected residents and property owners. Michael has experience working with local leaders, town officials, state and federal representatives, the Department of Environmental Services, and the governor’s office to hold corporate polluters and government accountable.

Michael  believes in equal representation, and that all voices must be heard, even those we may disagree with.
